Legislative #2

Source:
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1010/43760.html

Constitutional Connection:

"All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives."

Explanation of Connection:
This connects to article one of the constitution because it talks about how people want to sue the government for making citizens buy health care. The Virgina judge says that its unconstitutional. personally i think that everybody should buy health care insurance because if something happen and they don't have insurance thats more money to barry them. Since there are three branches of government other branches can over ride them. This is whats happening now. and now since this bill was passed it has effected the Virgina law which says you cant force Virgina's residents to buy coverage. people are now saying that congress acted in there own authority. This shows congress in action. they now passed a Bill and many citizens are mad. but i think it a great bill. even if people sue the government or try to override it, the president can veto or pass it.. and then it has to then go to the supreme court. i think this is a good article for the legislative branch.

Constitutional Connection:
Article 1, Section 1
"All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives."

Explanation Connection:
This article represents the first article section one because the picture refers to the congress. As you might notice the McDonald has been changed to McCongress and that it says billions and trillions are robbed. Some people feel as if the government robes the citizens of there money bye having them pay high taxes. And they don't see where the money goes besides free education and police and fireman, they don't see there money grow.It also changed Ronald mcdonald to Ronald mcgovernment and its showing how the Ronald mcgovernment is being greedy and eat Obama's stimulus package. the stimulus package was to give people who were financially unstable. but the United states is already in a recession so we don't have the money to bail people out there personal problems. and this political cartoon is trying to show how are congress is very greedy.  Ronald says that no federal agencies will go with out funding. Which is taking more money we don't have. in ways i think is is a perfect example of our congress. because we sometimes are greedy with the money we have. sometimes the things that are most important to the poeple are not passed and then the non important ones are the ones are money are wasted on. its says ronald has supersized himself again..lol

i think with out the legislative branch alot of laws would be unjust and that alot of things that are passed are not for the people it would bre one person. so i think this is essential to the Constitution.

Excutive #1

AUJLA, SIMMI. "President Obama: 'The Time for Action Is Now' - Simmi Aujla - POLITICO.com."Politics, Political News - POLITICO.com. 19 Sept. 2010. Web. 20 Sept. 2010. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0910/42372.html.

Constitutional Connection:

The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. He shall hold his Office during the Term of four Years, and, together with the Vice-President chosen for the same Term, be elected, as follows. Executive branch is to make laws

Explanation of Connection:
This article connects to the article II executive branch because its talks about the president in action. The president is telling us U.S citizens its time to take action. The reason he says take action is because
for the health care reform. he said, "I need everybody here to go back to your neighborhoods, and your workplaces, to your churches, and barbershops, and beauty shops. he also states after that we cant organize we just need to act now because the states are how. This shows the action of the exuctive branch and right now in this article mr. president is trying to get people ready for the health reform.
This article is essential to the constitution because its one of the ways the U.S government is seperated. IF we did not have this excutive branch i believe more people will have more power which is not good.

Blog Two (First Amendment) Freedom of speech

Source:
Constitutional Connection:
First Amendment says,"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
Explanation of Connection:
This article relates to the first amendment  because the people in this video are using there freedom of speech. There talking about gay marriage and weather same sex couples should be married. I feel that if the director of this show was to fire one of the host because he did not like what she said that denying her first amendment rights.

What would the world do with the first amendment. The freedom to speak is one of the most important ones in this first amendment. Because nobody should tell you that you cant speak and express the

Blog Five ( The Fifth Amendment)

Source:
Taylor, Jessica. "Judge Sets Date for Rod Blagojevich's next Trial - Jessica Taylor - POLITICO.com."Politics, Political News - POLITICO.com. Association Press, 26 Aug. 2010. Web. 30 Aug. 2010.  <http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0810/41502.html>.

Constitutional Connection:
"No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation."

Explanation of Connection:
In this article it talks about the Rob Blagojevich trail.  This article realates to the fifth amendment because because his trial he had to be charged with something. He was charged with bribery and conspiracy and more. He will have a retrial because he was only convicted on one account out of 24. In this acticle there was no case were yoou got convicted without having been charged first. Rob didnt testify against himself but they wanted his brother to.

Without this amendment people would not be able to be charged before there trial. They also would be able to testify againt there self. This prevents self incrimination. When people say i plead the fifth means that i dont want to talk about it.

Blog Six (The Tenth Amendment)

Source:
http://federalreview.com/wp/
Constitutional Connection:

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Explanation of Connection:
This article is connected because this amendment give the states the right to make there own laws. in th cartoon the judge is saying that California is making same sex marriage legal. But actually in real life they made it illegal and people called it unconstitutional and it was sent to congress. So its telling you that each states makes there own laws because its easier and different states have different people with different circumstances.

Without this amendment the world would be crazy because congress would be making laws for each state which is a lot. This is one one of the reasons why this is so important. The states are allowed to make there own laws but if the state makes an unconstitutional laws its sent to congress.

Blog Four (The fourth Amendment)

Political Cartoon:

Source:
http://www.cartoonstock.com/directory/s/search_warrant.asp

Constitutional Connection:

“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

Explanation of Connection:

Well this amendment says that you have the right to secure your belongings against unreasonable searches. And if a person in authority does not have a probable warrant they cant search your belongings. A probable warrant is one with descibing the place to be searched and supported by oath.

This political cartoons shows the fourth amendment because in the court the officer says that the search was by the book. The search actually was not because then after that he said that he counted to 100 before looking. I believe that the officer  was being questioned because lack of following the rules  He also never mentioned having the papers that approved the search. The constitution protect the belongings of others and the officer didn't abide by the rules. So he is gonna have consequences. This is conected to the constitution because it said before searching you need to have th right to look which the officer did not.

I like this amendment because it doesn't give the police and detectors too much power. With out this amendment a lot of people would have been violated of there personal space and things. And i also believe that it also means that if they search without the warrant it wont be allowed to be used in court. Which is good because that violation.

Blog One (First Amendment) Freedom to assemble

Source:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/video/2010/aug/23/ground-zero-mosque-protests

Constitutional Connection:
First Amendment says,"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
Explanation of Connection:
This video demonstrates the first amendment which gives you the freedom to assemble. Which means you can protest and strike on anything that you feel that you need to fight for. It also says to do it peacefully and rioting is not peaceful. But some people think that protesting and rioting is the same thing . Its not. Rioting is when you dont like something and you protest and burn stuff down and damage things thats not yours.

There is major conflict about if a mosque should be built near the site of the 9/11 tragedy. Well the constitution gives us the right to express our feelings on weather it should be build but it also gives us the right to have the freedom of religion. And we can protest are opinion.  A lot of people whose family died in the tragedy say that it is an insult to have it build there. I understand the concern of the family who lost the love ones but telling the people that want to build the mosque for there religion "No!" thats unconstitutional.  just because there race may have been the cause for many deaths they should be able to build were they want because of the first amendment. Some also say ,"This is demeaning. This is humiliating that you would build a shrine to the very ideology that inspired the attacks on 9/11."(i lost the source but i didn't say this ) But even if there was a Muslim that committed the terrorist attack not all Muslims are bad or terrorists. Thats a stereotype. Even though people have the freedom to assemble the words  they say or write can hurt the Muslims that want there place of worship to be build. Not all people will be satisfied with the decision that might be made if it is build or if its not. It may bring peace that they even want to consider building it where they want.

A world without the first amendment would be chaotic if the people were not allowed to protest there feelings on what should be done in this country it would be crazy. In this video its a lot of different opinions about if it should be build. If we have the freedom of religion why cant they build a house of worship were they want. If we say yes and we say no. SOMEBODY IS NOT GONNA BE SATISFIED.

Pictures

In this picture they compare this to building a memorial for Hitler in Auschwitz. Which can be very hurtful to a Muslim its almost as if they hate the Muslims but some times you have to forgive.

If you have the power to say yes or no what would you choose?

I would say yes because they have rights as americans to build it were they want. but then i did not lose anybody in 9/11. so i dont see some of the things others do.

If you wrote the constitution over would you keep freedom to protest?

Yes. i make you feel like what you saying is imprtant and someone is listening.
